Love Shadow Gold

"Impossible," you say, "it must be a dream."

Probability states that your luck has run dry

Yet you wake up in the morning; you feel her presence

Still by your side despite that fact that you are all but clean

Run dry, well, not really, you'd be in denial to say it

Dry you are not; sober, clean, trying to convince that shadow that you've got control

But time has shown on more occasions than I'd like to admit

But I can tell you now that the love in the shadow

knows the intricate pattern of that ball of wool you're trying to knit

A paradox it is, knowing that she knows

But still you try, weaving the wool, continuing to create your masterpiece

You'd like to stop, to put down the knitting needles

But something in your mind, in a parallel space

That can't be compared to the person you love so

Patience she has, you might say

But patience does not even touch the surface

Of their resilience, their strength, however don't take these words lightly

It goes far beyond my capacity of expression through words alone

Incomprehensible for those who have lived through our dismay

A paradox it is, knowing that she knows

They say it's never too late to express your feelings

One way or another, communication is key

Finding your voice, your platform to tell what should be told

It's now time to shine the light on your love, shadow gold

Often I think to myself, that the weight on my shoulders

It is too hard to bear, knowing that the shadow has to support her own weight, including mine

It's for that reason, I'm expressing myself right now through the words I write

I want to apologise for the the shadow that was cast, for all the times that I was cold

But I hope you can see, through this expression of mine

That you are and always were, my shadow illuminated gold

It's true that the shadow has been cast, way overdue

But putting that right, when able to do so

It's an imperative step, one that forges unbreakable bonds
